"Real accounts of my trip back to Miri..."
In the duration of one week of seclusion and solitude, my life pretty much revolves on waching anime (tonnes of it), sleeping and lots of thinking. When I had first acknowledged this unforseen misfortune (if I must say), I had a troubled thought being alone and feared that I will be cramped on the isolation and boredom of being alone. Honestly, it sucks to be alone. But I gave a positive outlook on it. Since I have a lot anime shows to watch, well I was not bothered much about it. Honey and Clover had always been my favourite anime and I must be frank that it has a special place in my heart. In a flash, I had the urge to make the reviews on each anime that I have watched. Maybe later. But what I am trying to convey hre is that the anime has taught me a lot about life and somehow, as if I was spellbound, my character and emotions were influenced by the anime. Deep... Wait a minute. This whole post is dedicated on the real accounts of my trip back home to Miri - in chronological order. Indeed, this blog will be on real-time posting, from my campus in Kota Baharu to my home in Miri.
Saturday (18/11), 1.55p.m.: Here I am posting in Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Baharu. I wanted to post an earlier blog - mostly regarding on my boring week of loneliness. I was quite hyped to share about the anime shows that I have been watching. Do you need the reason? Don't even bother to ask. What do expect of the internet connection from my campus in Kelantan!!! So I gave up. It seems that the solitude really gripped me tight. I actually preferred to head to the airport alone (by taxi), instead of asking my friends' favour to send me here. In fact I try to avoid making contact with them. I don't feel like seeing them. Is this is a sympton of being a hikikomori? FYI, hikikomori is anti-social person who enjoys solitude and hate any human companion. In other words, fear of going out to the open crowd. Either it's some kind of phobia or whatever, hikikomori is all about that. Oops, need to check-in now, though my wish is on blogging now.
Saturday (18/11), 2.25p.m.: Oh great! Flight delayed 30 minutes - as expected from Airasia. Like I have a choice... I mean, it's not like I can afford a private jet, right?
Saturday (18/11), 5.30p.m.: Dining in McD at LCCT. "Mcnificient" dinner - not really what I had in mind but I'm so sick to eat at the same place all over again. Asian Kitchen, just hearing the name makes me sick. I don't want to make my trip back seemed a routine, though it seems to be like one. I should spice things up. The moment I exited the arrival hall, I set my eyes on Coffee Bean. It was unbelievablely full. When I gave a thought to have a brief drink there, I pondered how unnecessary it was since I still can enjoy Coffee Bean back home. Oh the marvellous taste of brewed coffee (instant coffee like Nescafe makes me want to puke). Instead if they place a Starbucks there then I will change my mind. Whic reminds me, Java Chips sucks! Pardon me if Java Chips had been trademarked. So as I sit here typing my blog whilst chowing fries on the same table with some random white guy, I began to feel anxious of my laptop's battery life. Need to find a power outlet now...
Saturday (18/11), 6.15p.m.: Found a power outlet - inside the waiting hall. Never mind that. Get in early and play a game of dotA.
Sunday (19/11), 9.40a.m.: As much as I wanted to post another one last night, fatigue gripped me hard. So I preferred to get some nap instead of blogging. I arrived (safely) at Miri at 9.30p.m. last night - touchdown! Frankly I am out of words now (really enjoying my freetime at home). I will leave further comments on the next post.

Road Trip Day
"A road trip to Rantau Panjang"
I wish to post this yesterday's happenings last night. But my physical conditions were pushed to the limits and decided to call it a day. Besides the internet connection in my room is not at the usual optimum performance. I guess I should not expect from from it, is it? Today I will begin my week-length of loneliness. Constricted by my financial woes, I will have some rough time facing this. I wish to go back early but I did not have the financial backing from my parents. Curses. Unwilling to pay the required amount of penalty money, here I am, stuck in Kelantan. Never mind that. I do expect this to happen, nothing less. All I need is a decent internet connection.
Better not to wander off the real topic. So as mentioned, I had a road trip to Rantau Panjang. It is one of the duty-free zones in Kelantan and what is more special, the place is neighbouring to troubled southern region of Thailand. The fact that Rantau Panjang is just a leap away (literally) excites me. I kept on babbled those Thai greetings as we reached Rantau Panjang. Being a duty-free zone, I expected the place to be a reminiscent of Labuan. When I mention Labuan, my thoughts are on cheap imported chocolates and cheap liquors. My thoughts were denied. I give you an excerpt from my friends.
"Rantau Panjang is like a pasar malam (night market). No, Rantau Panjang is a day market." And I quote, "Rantau Panjang is a pasar satu hari (I presumed it was meant by a market to be open the whole day)."
You better believe those statements. It is, in fact a market. Pasar tamu to be exact, though it seemed to me that it is a hot-day market. My sweat glands were very active in its function at that time. Then we headed to the place where good chocolates are available at Rantau Panjang. Somehow the shop reminded me of Labuan. Ah! Those matriculation days. I bought a couple of chocolate to appease my cravings for those heavenly food. Actually I was amazed that they do sell Droste and Swiss Delice there (I quickly grabbed those two). Toblerone is no exception but since it is also available in 7-11s, I was not bothered of that favourite chocolate of mine. On the disappointment side, I failed to spot any Hersey. I want Kisses! But if my memory is right, I do recalled Kisses to be sold somewhere in Kota Baharu. I try to check that one out again. After storming that shop for chocolates, we headed out of Rantau Panjang. Ironically, it rained soon after. The timing was not good.
Temple searching was next on our list. In total we have visited four Buddhist temples. One of the highlights were the biggest Reclining Buddha statue in South East Asia. A lot larger than what they have in Penang. Believe me, the size is quite amazing. Then we have the Sitting Buddha. The statue does not amaze me but the temple's interior lured my attention. On the walls are facades of all the level of Hell in the Buddha's teachings. The sights were quite gory and I had an apathy of pain about it. Ouch! There is one image showing a devil puring hot melted iron into someone's mouth. Double ouch! Then another one. People chased by devil-like dogs and were forced to climb thorned tree in order to escape those dogs with crows attacking them as a bonus. Super ouch! There are lots more but those mentioned two are horrific to my standards. The rest of the temples are the Standing Buddha and the Confucius temple.
Our next stop was a beach near Tumpat. From the early perceptions, it looked like a nice beach. When set foot on the shores, I was disappointed yet again. The sea water was rather dirty and nothing scenic about the surroundings. When the day started to rain again, we rushed back to our cars. As we left the beach, we were stopped by police at a roadblock. Nothing much happened other than checking for identification and license, though I was warned about the broken front plate. Blame the rental car owner, not me. We were excused simply because we are students. Thank God for student privileges.
Soon after, we sent our friend to the train station and accompanied her until her ride arrived. And then we decided to have our dinner at one of the city's restaurants, Ala Yummy. Do not judge the place by its name (people here lack creativity). The service is very good but above all, the food is splendid. We had to leave early since we need to send one of our friends to the bus station. And as you read this, you need to take note that I do most of the driving. You can imagine how much energy was drained out of me.

Appreciations (and a big hug) to my roommate, Ah Tat, for organizing this trip with me and also Pei Ming to help along in getting us transport on that day. To those who are concerned, goodbye and happy holidays.

"Time felt really short"
Alas, the first semester has ended by the final paper that I had yesterday afternoon. Indeed the five months in university flew by without me noticing it. They say time felt very short if you have wonderful memories of it. I decline that statement. I really don't enjoy every moment of my life in Kelantan. I seek no pleasure in it. And that is where the irony is. Time felt really short. I guess if you spend your time enjoying or suffering, either way you will feel the time pass by very fast. To mark the ending of the first semester, the final paper that I had will do the job. It is the most unnecessary paper for me to take. It is irrelevant, it is boring, and it's about history. Oh, how I loathe history!
A profound discovery. Just now, I was disconnected from the internet. Fumed over the endless irritation, I decided to have a walk around the corridor. Then I spotted the wireless access point. I pondered at it for awhile. I decided to adjust the antenna, directing it to my room. It was a random, crazy thought. So I headed back to my room. Amazingly it was connected. Random ideas that do wonders.

Music Is In the Air
"Some music buzz in my life"
Checking my vital signs. My pulse is still beating. I am still breathing. My visions are not affected. That includes my hearing. Then... why I felt like I am dead? So it is true, boredom kills. I still have one more paper to go - the paper is due tomorrow. So I rely highly on the internet to give some life support to go through these. I need to remind myself that I still have another NINE more days before going back. That NINE days seems forever especially when you are going to face it all alone. Indeed, a NINE day length of solitude (hopefully not insanity). Here is the deal. I will wrap up my exam frenzied life by tomorrow, 10th November. Then I will have a final road trip on the next day. My roommate will head back home by the 12th. And as for me, I will only depart on the 18th. If my calculations are correct, I have one week of cursed boredom. Oh, I will make damn sure that my PARENTS will have their ears pierced by my sharpened rants to them about this. People are having longer breaks than I do and here I am pathetically waiting to go back home.
And as mentioned earlier, I was browsing through the internet and suddenly I had a thought to search for some music online. Alright now, cheap puns like me will not resort to online transaction for music or video. Hence forth, the torrent. But torrents are blocked from the campus server. Running low of alternatives, I go for online radio. It has been awhile since I actually used an online radio. Usually I would use LaunchCast(TM), then it came across me. My Yahoo account had not been active for quite a long while already. Translation, invalid account. Shoot! Had to make another account. Within minutes I was back to LaunchCast(TM) good old days to accompany my day. Honestly, I am not an avid fan of radio listening but after listening to some song, I realized that I have shy away from reality for quite some time. In this context, I have not updated my "music database" for quite awhile already. It seems that there are many new songs released throughout the period of my stay in campus. Some of them are very good too. Alas, some music buzz in my life.

Almost Over...
"Have fun, life's short..."
After struggling through so many sleepless nights (hmmm... this sounds too poetic), I have finally done with my Biochemistry paper (one of the toughest). So I deliberately considered myself on holiday now, though it seems unwise since I actually have another paper this Friday. Screw it, it's an easy paper. Have fun, life's short (not really an inspiring advice). Regarding the exam, my roommate has decided to rant as much as he wants on his blog after sitting for the exams. He is a man on the mission to ridicule. To be frank, I have nothing much to blog about today, other than my so-called declaration of holiday. I guess it's a wrap!

I Hate This Place!
"Why this place sucks?"
My campus is the worst place I have ever live in. Initially I was excited to be accepted into this university, USM. I figured that I'll be going to Penang. Gave it a check. Nope, it's Kubang Kerian. Processing location... Kelantan! Hold on, Kelantan? Anything associated with Kelantan is not good. When I first set foot in Kelantan, I hate this place deep inside my guts. Need me to list it out? Here it goes:
FOOD. I have no idea where to get some decent food around here. It seems to me that the food here tasted below average. This also applies to the Chinese food here. I am so disappointed with that since I know Chinese food are always good. What I really don't understand is that some people actually accept the food as good and even liking them. I guess the food in their place is more worse. Ever since last week, I gotten very bored with the food here. Now I have no motivation to eat at all (this is happening to me for the first time). I don't mind eating only once a day in this boring place. But exception on Secret Recipe for feeding me heaven-send cheese cakes.
BUG PROBLEMS. There is one particular bug that is newly introduced to me. It's not being specifically named but they are known as "Charlie". These bugs doesn't bite. If they do, they are not painful. In fact, it is quite unnoticeable. However the aftermath is nasty. The bite will leave a very ugly scar to your skin. Due to that reason, this kind of bug is not tolerable! FYI, I got it TWICE! Then another buggy problem. Stink beetles. At certain days, these beetles seemed like to swarm the whole campus, drowning all of the residents. What's worse, the beetle ever breach that very thin line of privacy - the toilet. Just now, I had shower with the bugs, literally. I mean, imagine taking shower in a cubicle infested by dozens of that beetle. It's like taking shower in the woods!
INTERNET. If internet is a she, then the internet here is a bitch! Somehow it has a certain mood to put it that way. Sometimes it works wonders (fast and continuous) and sometimes it starts to bitching around (no connectivity throughout the whole day). But most of the time, it is very slow. This university is too ambitious to provide the most sophisticated utilities and facilities to the students. The internet here is wireless. It's good but won't serve its purpose if there is no one to maintain it.
BORING. Kelantan/Kota Baharu = Boring. Wee... I'm a math genius! Wondering why this place sucks? If these long list doesn't kill you, I don't know what will. Bad food (as mentioned earlier), dirty (food stalls with the friendly rats neighbours), single yet small mall, no cinema (period), bad services from the eateries, lousy beaches, bug problems (also mentioned), infesting stray cats, more rats, the so-foreign-Malay-language of Kelate, lousy USM campus, bad internet connection, expensive yet not-so-good food (have mentioned that one?), and the number one reason... lacking hot, pretty babes. Sorry if sound perverted but that's just me.
Now back to reality (again). I have exam tomorrow. Reasonable people won't be blogging a day before exam. I am not being reasonable now. I really can't hold on to this stress and decided to let it all out on this blog. I think I am done here. Back to my revision (no! not Biochemistry again!).

Blog Quickie: Volume 5 (Makeover Edition)
I spent a couple of hours to give my blog some makeover. I know that I am doing a big mistake here but at least, I enjoyed it and worth my time. Suggest me to study now and I reply that I had enough of it (at some point I felt like giving up). Okay now, I don't plan to blog now. Just a quick update. In case you didn't notice, I've just added a chatbox. Now blabber as much as you want.

"Time to reflect on my past 18th year..."
How to have a perfect birthday? Why not having an exam? Lucky me to have an exam on my birthday. But it's an easy one - how hard Bahasa Malaysia can be? Wondering how I really spend my time on my birthday? Nothing is complete without a birthday bash. What I had last night is not exactly a birthday bash or even a surprise. It's rather a solemn affair to be frank. Partly because it is the exam season now. But I really appreciate my friends' effort come up with it. They even get me a present. Thanks my peeps! A big hug to you all. Now to the real highlight. I totally wasted myself out on an all-out dotA matches. Perfect to celebrate my birthday. Even though I got my ass kicked most of the time (my friends are demons in playing dotA or I was not careful enough to let myself getting killed). Having an exam the next morning did not stop us to play this game. After draining myself from a game like that, you can imagine my condition during the exam this morning. I finished up answering my paper as quick as I could and headed back straight to my room to continue on my much needed sleep. In fact I've just woke up now, having non-stop birthday messages from my close friends and families (felt groggy replying their messages). I wonder what is in store for me next.
Time to reflect on the past 18th year. I really enjoyed my 18th year. In fact, it was the year which I try on new stuffs and being more independent. In this year, I have managed to enroll myself to local university. Nothing special on that but stepping into university life is an eye-opener to me. My matriculation life was just the tip of the iceberg of university life. Now I really know what studying is all about. Pointless in my belief but important for me to get a better career. During this 18th year also I travel more frequently. My university is in Kelantan, a long length of the South China Sea away from my home of Miri. I also begin to travel without the companion of myusual boring family. Now I travel with friends. Last time I travel to Kuala Lumpur with my friend, Douglas and met up with Uzair. We stayed there for a week. At that time, I realized of my shopaholic nature. Meow! Then another trip to KL, this time a weekend reunion with my friends Vanessa, Riccie and Debra. That trip is another new experience for me, having a long haul bus ride and riding a train. And I still have my shopping mood with me. This 18th also leads me to more new friendships, some with their ups and downs. But I don't keep grudges. Just wrap up the old story and start anew in my ongoing 19th year. More fun and thrills hopefully.
